Yeah, what Eric said. Elecraft says, in the "Output Power" specification: "5 W or less recommended for high-duty-cycle modes (FM, AM, DATA). Power will automatically be reduced if PA temperature or current limits are exceeded." The stock heatsink is generally adequate *within* that recommendation. If you'd like to *exceed* it, you'll benefit from an aftermarket heatsink. I have the "ultimate" ProAudio one as well, and it is generally adequate up to the max power output of the KX3 (10-15 W) on high-duty-cycle modes.
