While that may be true Jim, the Koss SB45’s I saw on Amazon.ca (ca=Canada) had USB plugs on the ends of them, not the 1/8” phono type for Mic and Ear (stereo).
I looked at many ads, and there was enough inconsistencies in the ads (some ads showed USB & 1/8” pictures, both) that I did not buy that particular model. I was headed to the Caymans for a contest expedition and time was of the essence, so I erred on the side of safety as there would not be enough time to buy the proper one later, should I have rec’d the USB ones (that were no good to me) Mike VE9AA (ZF2AA in CQWW SSB 2022) Mike, Coreen & Corey Keswick Ridge, NB From: Jim Rhodes [mailto:jimk...@gmail.com] Sent: November 21, 2022 8:08 PM To: Mike Smith VE9AA Cc: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Yamaha Headphones If you want a Koss and an electret mike get an SB45. Basically an SB40 with electret instead of dynamic mike. I typically wear them from 12-40hrs on any major contest weekend. It would not be an exaggeration to say I have well in excess of 1000hrs on them. (a guess..the # might be 2 or 3k.who knows.) All I did was wear out the bonded pleather, but liked the phones so much I bought new velour earpads for them that cost nearly as much as the headphones originally cost, hi. They are better than new now. No issues ever with the headband. Recently I bought a few sets of the Koss SB40 and by gosh they look an awful lot like the Yamaha's..maybe made in the same factory - who knows. They are starting to get hard to find as well but I found mine on amazon.ca for around $60 CDN Good luck!
