As some of you know, I've been looking at putting together a K2

at the cost differences, I am now wondering if I might better off with
a K3.

Go with the K3. The K2/100 has limitations on how much power you can run. In the stock configuration, you can only run about 25-40 watts safely. If you add some supplemental cooling, you can go to 50 watts.

The K3/100, on the other hand, can run 100 watts continuously. It also has the option of doing FSK, if that's important.
