It sounds like UK Customs have their claws into it. That usually adds between 1 and 2 weeks to the delivery. If it's a parcel, you'll get a letter from Parcel Farce charging you 17.5% VAT on the commodity plus cost of carriage and, depending on its category, import duty plus £8 handling fee. If it's a small package, it'll be handled the same way by Royal Snail.
I'm awaiting delivery of a $71 package that will probably cost me an additional $38.
