Good Evening,
It has been quite wet this week in Oregon; good for spending time on indoor
activities. I brought in four day's worth of wood and wrote code for 18 hours
a day. It was just like when I was in grad school but with no advisor hanging
over my shoulder pushing me to produce. I miss him :) I did get a lot
written, debugged, and flashed.
Due to the inclement weather I have not been able to view Comet Holmes. It
has grown larger than the sun and will pass across Mirfak (Alpha Persei) very
soon. Hopefully I will get a break in the clouds to get my telescope out for a
look. At 25-50x it is very nice; any greater magnification requires
photographic equipment. There are many fine shots on the web showing
intriguing internal detail. Good luck for dark skies in your area.
Propagation has been down this week. However, the sun has thrown some
coronal material at us and is growing a new sunspot just for us. Maybe that
means we're on the upswing again. Now we need to pay attention to which
hemisphere is sprouting spots to see if we're passing the half way point in
this 22 year cycle. Yes, 22 years, it takes two halves to make one entire
cycle.
I was invited to participate at a multi-multi contest station this weekend
but I did not go. I have so little experience contesting with a mircrophone I
thought my time would be better spent working at home. The deer have been
popping up in my yard again. It is most likely due to the hunters cruising my
road. As long as they stay here they won't get shot at!

Please join us tomorrow evening.
