The higher the reference frequency, the more accurately you can set the TCXO. Don't forget you have 50MHz now, and from your Callbook QTH in IO91, you may be able to receive the GB3RAL beacon on 50.050MHz. (I'm fairly sure it is locked to GPS, but not sure about ERP and operational status... we'll soon find out, because Mr Beacon Keeper is an Elecraft user!)
