I decided to treat myself to a Heil desk mic to go with my K3 (incidentally, the audio now sounds absolutely superb since the recent firmware update, and I have changed all the TX equalization back to flat. I could never get audio that I liked the sound of previously.)
One disadvantage of the Heil desk stand is that it does not have a locking PTT. I was sure that when I first got the mic, I could press the XMIT button on the K3 and it would put the radio into TX until I pressed it again, so I could use it for long overs instead of having to keep pressing the button. It was not ideal since it was easy to press something else by accident (really, I'd like an option to make PTT work as a toggle, one push for ON, one for OFF again) but it was better than nothing. I know I could use VOX, but I don't like it for ragchews. Having just loaded the latest firmware I find that pressing XMIT in SSB puts the rig briefly into TX and then it goes back to RX again. Is this a deliberate change, or did I imagine that this worked in the first place? ----- Julian, G4ILO K3 s/n: 222 K2 s/n: 392 G4ILO's Shack: www.g4ilo.com Zerobeat Ham Forums: www.zerobeat.net/smf -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/K3-XMIT-in-SSB-modes-tp16197026p16197026.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
