Hello, Thank you for all of the great responses I have received.
The copy is not an OEM specifically for one machine. I'm not trying to use it on two machines at the same time, my old one broke. It gives me a message that I have 30 days to register it before it stops functioning. I have spent the last couple of hours Googling for information on Ubuntu. Since this PC will only be used in my shack for radio stuff, I'm going to load Ubuntu and forget about Microsoft (like getting a 600 pound gorilla off my back). All of the software (including the Ubuntu OS), is free, no registration. Software for operating digital modes, K2 controller software, logging programs etc are available for download. It looks like a good way to go for me.
