You won't notice much difference in a wide filter greater than 1000hz, but with narrower filters tuning to the exact zero beat will give the strongest signal to the RX, especially if you reduce the filter's band width with DSP to 100hz or less. When you get down that narrow you may lose the signal if you're not right on it. I'm speaking from experience. I have no scientific proof of this.
