In N1MM set DTR to CW for COM-1.  In the K3 config menu, go to the KEY - PTT 
menu 
item and set it to DTR - OFF.  That means keying will use the DTR signal and 
PTT 
will be OFF. 

You can also set PTT in the same manner.  In MM, set DTR to CW and RTS to PTT.  
Then set the KEY - PTT menu to DTR - RTS.

Keep in mind I am not by my radio right now and this is from memory.  The menu 
item 
may be PTT - KEY vice KEY - PTT.  If thats the case, you just need to reverse 
entry, i.e.... RTS - DTR vice DTR - RTS.
