Cut about two turns off the spring. If that feels too light, stretch the spring a little.

While you have the mic open, notice that it contains no RFI/transient suppression components (none needed here, but YMMV).

Reassembly is much easier if you don't have to fight a compressed spring, so squeeze the retaining latch on the PTT button and slide it part-way out. Then screw the case together and click the PTT button back into place.
