Well the ALS 600 I had did not put out 600 on all bands. It was especially down on 80 meters more like 425 to 450 watts although plenty of power. I understand this is typical with the 600 so it makes me wonder if this amp would truly put out 1200 on all bands or even miss 1000 on some bands.
Kind of a bummer, no QSK, band decoder or as you see as that added extra in the foreign amps, 6 meters. 73 de KE4WY Jim -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Vic K2VCO Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2008 10:45 PM To: DOUGLAS ZWIEBEL Cc: Elecraft Reflector Subject: Re: [Elecraft] OT: new SS amps DOUGLAS ZWIEBEL wrote: > I just ran into this by accident. > > http://www.ameritron.com/catalog/Ameritron_2009.pdf > > See page 9. > > No stated expected delivery > Not enough "specs" for my liking, but still, rather interesting. > Is this "contest grade?" Who knows? Just a couple of things: 1) Unless all of your antennas are very well matched you'll need a tuner. An autotuner for 1200w is relatively expensive. So 'no tune' is not exactly true. 2) It doesn't appear to include QSK; the band decoder is also extra. 3) It says "1200 watts of clean SSB output". I suggest this means 1000w on CW and 600w RTTY. Because of 1 & 2 it's not so cheap. -- 73, Vic, K2VCO Fresno CA http://www.qsl.net/k2vco _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
