Thanks to all who replied with suggestions. My computer has plenty of serial ports as I'm using a ByteRunner card to add extras, but of course there is only one serial port on the K3. What sounds like a promising solution is LP-Bridge, which several of you suggested. I will look into it in the next day or two.
