Good Evening,
Spring is definitely here; the wind is howling and the rain has been
torrential at times. There have been fleeting moments of sun, warm, and dry
though. I am finally done with my class. Gathering all the material, writing
the course, and then presenting it is a great way to learn a subject. By the
time I got into the lecture I could speak extemporaneously on the topic; I even
mentioned Major Armstrong a few times. After the class the students said they
had learned something so that was payment enough for all the long hours of
work. Unfortunately I need to make more courses for them and may not have a
choice in the subject material. Such is life.
I was only on the air once this week but during that hour the propagation
was good. I made contact on twenty meters into Alabama and Northern California
with good reports. I did fiddle some with N1MM today so I can try a contest.
I need to get better with my hardware and software setup before Field Day.
N1MM has a learning curve which requires some time to climb. I am getting
better but I contest so very little that it takes review to get back to where I
was only nine months ago. Last contest I was in I lasted about ten minutes
before my chores seemed much more interesting and they called me away. I guess
I need to find some motivation to contest more often. Do any of you have any
suggestions for maintaining interest during the contest?
Please join us tomorrow evening.
