That seems a bit extreme. On an average day, lots of 80m, 40m, and even upper HF band activity already tends toward being channelized to the nearest 1 KHz, and if anything it helps spread out the QSO's. All that goes by the wayside (as it should) when activity picks up for contests and DX pileups.
