Improved knobs are available now. After second time having knobs break, I told factory I would keep my glued-together knobs until they had improved ones available. New ones arrived a few weeks ago with a note saying they are now made of a fiber-reinforced plastic that is much stronger. (Although they look the same.)
Mine are fine so far and I trust they will stay with the radio until it gains antique value.
