Some guys like to monitor another frequency while running, either looking for mults, a different run frequency, or even a band change. Often when I'm running and things are slow enough, I'll spot someone I want to work on the other RX and try to time the end of his QSO with the end of my CQ, then call and hopefully work him without losing my run frequency.
