Mr. Cretney wrote- In my opinion, the way around this problem is to set fixed terms for elections. --- D- A saying from the 1776 U.S.A. era --- Tyranny begins when annual elections end.
The State of Connecticut had early elections for its legislature in May and November for many years (i.e. 6 month terms). Many so-called *modern* regimes in the U.S.A. have 4 year terms for many state senates (upper houses of State legislatures) and even some state representatives (lower houses of State legislatures) and many local government legislative bodies -- a very dangerous trend. The 6 year term for U.S. Senators makes the U.S.A. Senate very elitist and non-responsive. Since it is the voters who elect legislative bodies, it should be the voters who have the power to have recall elections for legislative bodies (via recall petitions).
