Actually, SODA can work with a normal ballot, as long as there's a write-in option. You just write in "do not delegate", or "Bender the Robot", and check the box. Since you have more than one check, your ballot is no longer delegated.
Also, SODA is a bit more than just approval with a delegation option. The candidate predeclarations, and the order for using delegated ballots, both help get a good resolution the chicken dilemma.
