Well, I attach that file of mine hoping that it will be of help to
you. (Its contents are nonsense.) I have also noticed that
redraw-display removes those  leftover traces of the cursor, but I
guess that is to be expected.

Thank you (and any other involved) for your very good work! (I have
used Emacs.app with success to write a toy interpreter for a course I
had taken in college, and It proved to be a very useful tool for me!)
