What about pointing package dir to deps/compiled or something
similar? Then, make clean/make cleanpkg can simply remove
that.
You know what. That works great. I even added back in the
emacs version directory code we had previously so you don't
have to recompile the deps when changing Emacs versions. (we
only do cleanpkg with cleanall, not clean in this current
iteration)
I still have to have the annoying repro work around though.
Here's the changes from my last patch series:
Looks better. However, when I try make repro EMACS=emacs-29, I
get Emacs fired and failing to load compat.
I can't reproduce.
This is kinda why I was saying earlier I might not be the best
person for this. I have access to a number of containers that all
contain an executable named "emacs". I don't have an easy way of
putting multiple Emacs's in one environment or of renaming the
executables (since they're in a read only filesystem).
I bet this is either an environment variable issue or binary
naming issue and I don't have a way to test either.
Maybe I could guess at a solution if I had the error message.
