I, too, am very fond of the Outlook/Entourage message list view with two rows. The necessary width of the column is decreased by at least half (at the expense of viewing half as many list items). Personally, I find the look more appealing and the increased message view size vs. decreased viewable list tradeoff is more than worth it. For GTD people who operate with very few items in their inbox (not me, unfortunately) the "tighter" list is even better. One thing to look at would be the WideMail plugin (http://www.daneharnett.com/widemail/). The plugin adds this same two row message list to Mail.app. One of the particularly neat things it does is allow you to customize what, where, and how the header information appears. Screenshot: http://is.gd/70jZy This allows a wonderful amount of customization and the process would be identical to Caio's proposed customizable source list view. And I think WideMail's concept could be expanded further. If the user so desired they could add a 3rd or 4th line to display a portion of the message body. Going even further, the user could have X lines appear in the message list up to the full body of the email, the usual message reading pane could fold up, and you'd be left with something similar to NNW's Combined View where you would be reading all your mail in one long stream. The UI for customizing the first 2 rows of header info could be similar to WideMail's while additional rows could be a slider. -John _______________________________________________ [email protected] mailing list List help: http://lists.ranchero.com/listinfo.cgi/email-init-ranchero.com
