used to be 700 MB, 550 MB after some backups to Filemaker 6 months ago. I
give 8.5 MB to Emailer, except for when transporting when I use 20 MB. I
do a simple rebuild once a year, or when I have "this message have been
permanently deleted" messages showing up in autolog, which ever comes
first. A rebuild always help.

I do think that the clue to absence of problems is that I stayed at Mac
OS 8.6 until 9.04 was available. Then I also stayed at 9.1 until 9.2.2
wasw available. In my opinion Mac OS versions 8.0, 8.5, 9.0 and 9.2.1
should be avoided, as they are unstable. Versions 8.1, 8.5.1, 9.1 and
9.2.2 have served me well using a wide assortment of applications,
including Emailer, during they years.

Best Email software, yes.

I'm OK using Emailer in Classic until it's the only classic app I use.
Powermail look like a viable native alternative. Especially since the new
recent mail window, that I think is better than Emailer autolog as it
keeps updating until I say I want a new log. You can only have one, but I
seldom look back at old logs. I would like better search capabilities
though, so if I can stand the interface, mailsmith may be better.
