This person is using solutions for OS X Public Beta from soon 2 years ago. He's using them on 10.2? I haven't defragged any OS X system since 10.1. Speed disk show there is no need. Your friend is crazy, it's as simple as that. And all your "facts", Chip, are a waste of space and of our time.
I suggest you subscribe to Mac OS X Talk list at omnigroup.com, state what you said here and ask the subscribers there to try and prove you wrong. Remember to wear an inflammable suit. Among the subscribers there are a few of the most knowledgable OS X people in the world, including people from Apple. Some of your points are a matter of opinion of course, but your whining is about 3 years too late. I and many others "whined" since 3 years ago and got Apples ear on a few points at least. To think that Apple would rework OS X with OS 9 as a template is very naive, but you could lobby for a few reasonable items of course. Stay on OS 9, Chip. Noone cares what you do. In the future use Windows, Linux or whatever. There will be enough people to replace you and your likes. If they are computer newbies, OS 9 "converts", Windows or 'Nix users are largely irrelevant.
