I did as you suggested, downloaded DFA 8.6.1, and ran it. Sure enough, it reported that "Wrapper System File Needs to Be Replaced." While I usually subcribe to the theory "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and my computer had been running fine, I went ahead and let it repair the problem. The computer appears to be still running fine, so at least I didn't make it worse, and hopefully I headed off some dire future problem. Thanks for the suggestion.
