Thanks to Steve Morris, Chris Bartlett, and now especially Mike Penix,
I've got Emailer working with SBC Yahoo DSL email!

I had DirecTV DSL for about 2 1/2 years. The first year or so I made
lots of tech support calls, complaining about slow or inconsistent
connections. The last year, however, was smooth as glass, never a
complaint, and I hated to see them go out of business. The switch to SBC
Yahoo DSL was a total nightmare. DSL took hours; router took hours;
Emailer has taken hours. SBC's tech support people were very friendly
and _seemed_ competent, but no two of them ever told me the same thing!
Oh, then there is the problem that there is SBC tech support AND Yahoo
tech support, and if you call one, they transfer you to the other! Just
imagine the possibilities!

THIS WAS THE ANSWER! I knew I should play with @s and %s,
but I hadn't yet tried the various permuations, and this did the
trick.

Dummy me--I had set up a separate account for localhost, which
sort of works, but sticking it in here is the obvious thing to do!

Thanks to everyone for your help. I can now send and receive email via
SBC Yahoo. I'm looking now at another little glitch, so I may get back
to y'all later. But for now, I'm greatly relieved and a much happier
camper.
