Thank you to chris and Anna for your responses.

I tested sending emails and attachments with a different ISP, and finally 
concluded that the attachment we were trying to send must have been 
corrupted (or my regular ISP's SMTP server got fixed in the interval). 
Because I was able to send email and other attachments fine, but that 1 
particular file won't go through.
