Hi folks: I too am a lurker, and sign on to this great list every few months or so to see what is going on. We are still using AOL as our dialup access to the Internet since we are unable to get DSL or other broadband here yet. SBC keeps promising a DSL box, but they are six months late.
I've been using AOL and Emailer for several years. About three months ago, I noticed that attachments from certain people were not being picked up by Emailer. This problem seems to be limited to certain people, so it's possible that Emailer is not recognizing that some emails have attachments that need to be downloaded. There's no way to tell except by logging on using AOL 4.0 or 5.0 and checking AOL's Mailbox manually, scanning your Read Mail list to see if there are attachments you may have missed. More recently I've had many, many problems with Emailer sending emails. It seems to read mail just fine, but hangs up when sending emails quite often. Sometimes I end up sending the same message over and over to the same recipients four times before the message gets through according to Emailer. I later find out that I've sent the message four times; Emailer just didn't recognize this as it got hung up with AOL. We have five computers in our office using Emailer and AOL; two computers seem to have this problem. I am using an older Titanium Powerbook and the "Hayes Auto Reliable" modem script in Emailer. I am wondering if there are any newer CCL scripts out there to use with AOL these days, or perhaps a better modem script to use with Emailer and the Powerbook's internal modem. If I log into a separate AOL account, then send my emails using Emailer's TCP/IP script, then there's no problem. Thanks!
