Okay, I'll try the obvious question here - you DO still have Mozilla and 
Acrobat Reader on the drive, right? Also, have you tried restarting with 
Option and Command (Apple) held down to rebuild the desktop? And, are you 
running under MacOS 9.x (or X.whatever)?
