I run Emailer 2.0.3 and also Clarisworks 5.0. On OS 9.2.2. I am not sure where the Help files and apps for these two programs should be -- in which folders, I mean. As things are now, if I have the Clarisworks Help app open, switch to bring Emailer up front and now hit the Help key (or use the pull-down menu), I get a message from Quickhelp saying it "can't open that file, it's damaged or intended for another version of Quickhelp." Yet, if I don't have that CW help app open, the Emailer help opens just fine.
Until yesterday, whenever I hit Help while in Emailer, the system went on a long, very distracting, very annoying search for the files needed -- as if it had to search the entire disk to once again locate the right viewer and content. Yesterday, though, I removed QuickHelp 2.0 from System/Claris folder and this problem stopped. I put QH 2.0 in the CWorks folder. Now, though, I have this new conflict. It seems that Emailer uses Quickhelp version 4 while CW uses version 2. The Mac OS, meanwhile, uses an entirely different program, HelpViewer. This seems to be a stoopid mistake on Apple's part; seems one viewer oughta serve all apps, with backwards compatibility, no? Anyone know where these help apps and related help files oughta be? Perhaps someone here has the same combo and could just look to see what's where. Thanks very much, %%%%%%%%%%%%%% John W. Verity So.
