Well, Doug, you are effectively spamming *us*.

Your signature here takes up 16 lines - way more than the recommended
3 maximum. The bit between the tildes appeals to you but not to me. I
don't even see its relevance.

Your full postal address appears in every message (several times per
digest) and your email address appears here twice. You are probably
filling up a few Hard Drives faster than we'd like. I don't know if
these messages are archived in an accessible place but, if they are,
you are giving your email address to the world. Anyone with a grudge
could "sign you up" for spam.

Please don't take this as a personal attack. It's just my point of
view and others may not agree. But take it as proof that you can
easily upset someone without even intending to - so you get spam.
(No, I'm not responsible for it).

When I sign up for *anything* I use an "alias" address that I can
delete at any time. The first time that address collects an unwanted
message, I delete the message AND the alias and generate a new one
instead.

If I receive as many as two spam messages per week I feel I'm being
flamed! ;-)

So, I recommend you use an email service that lets you generate and
delete "alias" addresses. Never give anyone the root address. The
spam problem will quickly go away.

Martin Pickering
