Thought everyone may be interested in this. With some research, I
discovered what is likely causing this new AOL "Reading 1 of 0" problem
with Emailer. A month or two ago -- I believe at the exact time we
Emailer users began encountering this problem, in fact -- AOL DID change
their mail protocols over to a new system. Now get this: The purpose of
the new system is that AOL will, beginning this year, start allowing
third party email clients (Outlook, Eudora, Entourage, Apple Mail, or
whatever) to access AOL accounts! The catch is that the client MUST use
IMAP. This effectively excludes Emailer. The concept is being called
"Open Mail Access" internally by AOL. It is still in its testing stages,
and right now it only works with Outlook for Windows. But I'll betcha
something about this protocol switch is what's causing us to get these
"Reading 1 of 0" errors, and I wonder if we'll lose AOL support
altogether when the switch to the new IMAP protocol is complete. You can
read about it here: http://www.betanews.com/article.php3?sid=1070617514

Which brings up an interesting question. Will those of us -- like myself
-- who are basically only using Emailer at this point because of its AOL
support, leave Emailer once we can use Apple Mail, Entourage, or anything
else to access our AOL accounts?

>Yup. Been going on for some time as discussed here. It only happens when
