>What is IMAP? Internet Message Access Protocol.
Its just another email protocol. Emailer only supports POP (the current standard for retrieving email), and SMTP (the current standard for sending email). IMAP is used for retreiving email, so its a replacement for POP basically. Its making a big rise, and is more than likely going to replace POP in the not to distant future. There are pros and cons to it over POP. Many people seem to want to be able to access all their email from anywhere, all the time... IMAP helps with that because it supports server side storage (like a web mail system). AOL's current way of doing email is much more like IMAP then it is like POP, so I can see why they would go with IMAP if they were going to open up to 3rd party clients. It will probably cause less of an interface issue for them. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
