I do something pretty similar;
Before sending, I use the little square button at the top left of the 
Emailer message window by the left/right arrows (it's a pull down menu if 
you click & hold, or a selection window if you just click & release 
quickly). I use that menu button to select the folder I want it filed in. 
Then I click "Send Now". That results in my outgoing message being filed 
where I want, and sent out. 

I always use the "Send now" button to send messages, as I have so many 
)*&%^^ different accounts, and I frequently have several unfinished 
outgoing emails that it would be foolish for me to ever let emails get 
auto sent, especially before I selected the "from" account. Hope this
