Greetings
In October I moved from Email to Mac Mail. This is a follow up report.
I am OS 10.2.8 on 500 mhz G4 Titanium. Since Jan I've been ADSL.
I'm running Mail 1.2.5 v533, Address Book 3.0.3 v225Summary: If you do not mind running Classic programs (a personal, not functional, preference) and do not do large address groups Emailer is better.
--------------------------------------------------
Mail has inferior, poor and nearly worthless searching capability. It cannot do several searches at once.
Setting up Folders within Folders in Mail is a matter of typing, not drag and drop. It is awkward, but can be done.
Rebuilding a Mailbox has to be done for each Mailbox. It cannot be done for all in one session.
Mail cannot be set up to work offline other than email by email. You cannot be online, but tell Mail not to go online and write several emails, then review them, then send them. You can write each email and save as a "Draft" and remain online and the Draft emails will not go out.
Address book is slow. It is a separate application designed to synch with other programs such as iCal. My machine can bog down searching for addresses and moving them about.
Address book has better search capability than the address book in emailer.
You can send an alarm about an event through mail, but that feature does not allow sending emails to a group, such as scheduling a meeting of 5 people and automatically sending a reminder from iCal through Address Book through Mail. Thats where the promise of Mail is not realized.
Hopefully, I'm wrong on some of this and folks will catch me up.
