Thunderbird <http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/> users can easily change the IMAP folder view from "all messages" or "unread messages" via a pulldown just above the message/browser pane. There are also a slew of other view presets, such as "Recent mail" and "Has attachments," or you can define your own filter to customise the folder view.
