I say to keep your whole emailer folder in your User "home" folder. Not 
in the applications folder. 

If you use iPhoto, (and you should!) you can get a patch to let iPhoto 
send your iPhotos by way of Emailer. "iphoto emailer patcher". 

Know that Opening the "Temp incoing folder" in OSX makes an invisibe file 
in there that give emailer problems. 

Emailer works great with any version to date of Mac OSX, even Panther.
