Because of the large number of digits required, 800 >number to my calling card company, 14 digit pin number, and finally my >ISP number, I have never been able to get connected. Is there a way to >manual dial all but the ISP number, and then have the software dial and >connect? I'm using 10.2.8 on my Powerbook.
Two options. 1: use commas to add pauses in the right spots. Each comma will add a 2 second pause. Use multiples for long pauses. I have found this to work with some systems, but others have ever changing lengths of pauses, and waiting too long will cause it to error out as well. So I usually do #2 2: In your modem control panel, uncheck the "Listen for dialtone before dialing" option. Then connect both a phone and your modem to the phone line. Bring up your dialing software on the computer and have it ready. Now pick up the phone, and manually dial the calling card. Get thru the phone process up to the last step where you need to dial the ISP's number. Now tell your Mac to start dialing the ISP. Wait until you start to hear it dial, then hang up the phone. In the even that the ISP number is not the last thing to dial, you can change your dialup settings to dial whatever the last number is (maybe it is your account number), and use the same trick. I find this way to be MUCH MUCH more reliable and pretty much only do it when I had to use a calling card -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
