It depends on the application that sent the mail and on the application
that receives the mail. If the message was sent with HTML encoded into
the mail, some applications will send the mail formatted and an additional
unformatted or "plain text" message as an attachment. 

Since Emailer doen't (thank everone who worked on the program for
this bit of sanity!!) support HTML, no attachments are needed.
