There may be no one out there still on 8.6, but ... Though I could connect fine, after starting up with SMTP Auth, I'd get: "Claris Emailer Preferences file is either damaged or open in..." and SMTP Auth would keep making new prefs files, no matter what I did. When I trashed the Prefs file it made, SMTP Auth kept finding copies of Emailer no matter how I hid them and giving me a blanked out 'Connect' button. (even on first level, etc.) So I finally have only one copy on this hard disk and it's running fine. thanks chris. virginia
