Re: OS 9.2 Emailer Lite 1.1.4, iMac w 80gig hard drive replacement
I'm new here, and have used Emailer with virtually no problems for many
years, and love it.
Problem:
My Emailer application opens, not with all its files, but as an empty
application, like new, no content or personal folders, with empty In and Out
boxes. The "missing" files - before the emailer crash - are still on my
hard drive: the pre-crash ones are in the usual files, under applications/CE
Folder/CE Files. Also there is a Temporary Incoming Folder with 2.6 MB, 33
items, which date/time from when it all froze up during a download of 100
emails upon returning from a trip.
I would dearly love to get the CE application showing up WITH all its prior
content, including Personal Folders, In and Out boxes, and Address Book.
It would be a lovely bonus if I could also access the stuff in cyber
purgatory, temporary incoming, as well as the attachments from some of that
which show up in a file of Attachments from Emails.
1) How do I somehow reinstall Emailer so it is speaking to its content files
from before?
2) If I can't do that, is there any way to read files of the type which
include the Address Book, In Box, etc? The icon looks like a white
rectangular "page" with 2 cross-wise lollipops, one black and one white.
This is a type of file which (even pre-emailer-crash) won't open, but
produce a small box that says Claris Emailer cannot open files of this type.
At least I could manually access the info that way if necessary. I hope (1)
will solve things instead.
3) Where on my Hard Drive should my Claris folders and documents be properly
located (what needs to be under Applications, what under System, what can be
anywhere at all?)
4) And, reluctantly, if you had to change to another email software, what
would you choose? I like the Emailer in and out box displays, which I use as
a desktop filing and drafts system. About the only thing I wish for, more,
is nesting folders.
Thanks so much,
Lynn in Washington
PS the first person to reconnect me with my inaccessible files can have the
chocolate bar of their choice mailed to them.....
