Hi Karl-
I really enjoy these Emailer discussions..
My computer died last year and I current use a G4 my granddaughter loaned me which does not have CE and I use Mail and don't really mind it that much but I still prefer CE. Maybe this is just the case of familiarity I'm not sure. What I would like to see is a list of the features of both so we can see what the difference are.
What are the good and bad points of each i.e. Mail vs Emailer?

regards,
doug

In the early days of Mail, it was klunky, unreliable (by comparison with
[EMAIL PROTECTED]) and a PITA to use. In the recent iterations, though, it has
become sleeker and much more viable as an email client. This is, of
course, my opinion.
I really cannot agree with you about Mail. I still don't like it though I have it on a laptop and occasionally use it to check for client when out
of the office, it lacks some of the sleek things CE does so easily, or
maybe I do so easily with it, IMHO it is still a slow application and
like several other MAC OSX programs does not have keystrokes for several
often used functions that must be performed by mouse clicks - very
unproductive. Just yesterday I had problems with a client using Mail and
had no choice but to move her to Thunderbird, which she was happy to do
because it felt a lot like the Netscape mail she had been used to.

But [EMAIL PROTECTED] is more than a little long in the tooth. With each new
technical change (I hesitate to call them “advances”) [EMAIL PROTECTED] becomes
more frail, more finicky, and harder to manage.
While CE IS log in the tooth, I don't think it has become as frail as you express and it is really not that hard to manage. I have had a few times where I needed to reconfigure an account and occasionally Classic crashes
but I have not bothered to find out why yet as it only affects CE and a
reboot fixes it.

I am sure we all realise the day will come when we have to move on but
personally I expect to go down with the sinking ship.

Cheers
Karl
