Have you considered PowerMail <www.ctmdev.com>? PM is very Emailer like, multiple accounts, good filters, and Applescript support is good. (No Applescript in T-bird.) Like Emailer, you compose messages in plain text; although PM can display received HTML formatted messages as an option should you wish. PM has good integration with the Apple Address Book - one area I believe T-bird falls down. I found migration from Emailer to PM to be entirely straightforward, without requiring any third party software to accomplish. Not connected, but a satisfied user.
