Yes to all of these.  This was not a change in CVS, just a change in
terminology to avoid confusion since we were misusing the term HEAD.
Each branch has a HEAD; what we always meant when we said that was the
main branch (the trunk).

Note this isn't just pedantry: HEAD is a CVS keyword and this
misuse led to a lot of confusion with things like cvs diff -rHEAD.
