No, not really. Of course it increases compile time and disk usage. Yet
the effects should be minimal: The resulting rtai_rtdm.ko is 27KB on my
system.

Other than that: RTDM (Real-Time Driver Model over RTAI) is an add-on
to RTAI, so I assume it does not mess around with the core system. (You
can find it under "Add-ons" in the rtai configuration. And it is
compiled to a kernel module of its own.)

So I assume that this option is pretty harmless. (Yet I am only a
RTAI user, not one of the RTAI developers.)
