Michael, Michael, Charles, Jan, John, Lars, etc.

I tried to keep up with the flurry of emails back in April/May but it
was, shall I say, a stream-of-consciousness conversation---not easily
read by a nonparticipant.

Perhaps the most telling snippet for me was

> So I have the itch that we are not going to find the issue by gdb etc. but
> only by getting learned on the issue of
> 1. rtai interfaces
> 2. rt_preempt interfaces
> and how to go from the one to the other.

Being expert in neither, it seemed better to wait until the dust settled.

Sill I have a non-machine tool application in mind for a BeatleBoard or
similar that could be fun to try using the guts of LinuxCNC. I could
probably get by without any real-time considerations at all so it's no
loss if latency is high. I looked through miniemc2 (Xenomi-based) and it
has some very clever bits but I'd rather stick to a more mainstream
distribution I understand relatively better.

After several months of inactivity, the Wiki Page
http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Debian_Wheezy_Linux-Rt_Compile_LinuxCNC

suddenly got updated a few days ago. Is that the place for a tyro to start?

Regards,
Kent
