I think we should have the option to log everything, and through a singel 
channel; not a file here, a syslog there, a console print over there, and an 
on-screen popup thrown in - I'm sorry, enough is enough.

That isnt 'improving a code smell', but then I am fully aware perceptions vary 
widely on what constitutes a desirable architecture, or an improvement for that 
matter.
