As for the PRU pinout, I believe the PRU should be able to readily drive
any I/O pin on the chip that can work as a GPIO (which is pretty much
everything pinned out to the headers).  The performance difference
between a dedicated PRU I/O pin and a GPIO pin likely won't matter.  I
would, however, like to have a pinout that allows the LCD/HDMI port to work.

There are three branches you can use, all with the same PRU support at
the moment.  I have been using arm335x-hal-pru-module, and Michael has
updated versions that include emcweb and are based on 2.5 or master:

arm335x-hal-pru-module-emcweb
arm335x-hal-pru-module-emcweb-master
