On my toy, I "home" where ever its at, no home switches, and its a minor 
annoyance to have to home A when its not connected, but the machine is 
otherwise happy as a clam.

So I don't bother with loading the 3 axis config even when the rotary table 
is on the shelf.
 
YMMV of coarse.
