After pausing a minute I realized that I could just point to
gentoocnc/overlay in make.conf. I believe layman is ok with this and it
will track. Again though, every part of this was manual (make.conf,
installed.xml, initial clone). If there are any ambitions of getting
this added to layman's official list, it may be necessary to
standardize, I don't know. Something to think about.

The problem is, when I did my clone, it pulled the parent
overlay folder. So, instead of the desired
./gentoocnc/sci-misc/, I got ./gentoocnc/overlay/sci-misc/. For
the moment I just moved the folders up a level. The hg man page
isn't super clear on how to pull a subfolder. Do you guys have a
way to streamline this process?
